Mentastics are really the essence of the work of Dr. Trager. 

The quality of effortless movement is maintained and reinforced by the Mentastics a client is taught and then recalled at any time.

Mentastics are simple, active, self propelled movements which you, the client, can do on your own during your daily activities. They have the same intent as the table work in terms of releasing deep-seated patterns that stem from the unconscious mind.


For many of my clients, Mentastics become part of their self care, relieving stress and tension.  They find themselves sharing Mentastics with their family members to improve postural and behavioral patterns.

Because of the nature of this work, we consider Trager to be an educational and empowering approach, rather than a therapeutic one.  The effects of Trager are accumulative, and clients appreciate and benefit from a series of sessions.  I teach everyone a new language for their life. Asking ourselves questions such as “what could be easier?” “what could be more free?” in times of pain and stress, break patterns of hardness and restriction.  Asking ourselves “what could be more playful?” brings us a feeling of joy and relief, a new way to stop and think about the choices we make in our lives.




One of the most potent aspects of The Trager®Approach is the ability to recall the feeling of deep relaxation, and how it feels to move freely and easily.  At the end of each session, I remind clients that they can recall this feeling anytime they want. This is the most recent memory your body has felt, so recall it often.
