The Big question
How will this thought or action, contribute to, or interfere with , the achievement, by me and the greatest number of other individuals, on man’s FINAL END? Aldous Huxley
This passage was from recent reading of a Brave New World, written in the year of “our Ford” 1932. With wit and cunning, this book offers from 1932, a look into our current state. I enjoyed the book because I enjoy science fiction. To see the future is the artists prerogative, in fact, artists create the future. Perhaps we, as creators of our own lives could begin to imagine a future that is more peaceful and loving, to hold a candle to the darkness of human nature.
Dante’s Inferno was written in the 1300’s to overcome his despair over expulsion from Florence, Italy, where his wife and 3 children lived. His work showed the soullessness of man, the worst of the worst and the hell they would live in for eternity. He reminded the reader to live soulfully. His writings made it back to Florence, and people recited his poems and passages as they became enlightened.
All science fiction reminds me of what could be, if we remain unconscious to our darker natures. Becoming enlightened, I can see the beauty. I can become more accepting and loving. I can change the world, my world, as I live by shining my light on the darkness.
