Oscillation
As you go through your day, can you find the oscillating movements that your body offers? Check out your shoulder. It has a rotating joint, as does your knee and hip. Once you explore the 3-dimensionality of those larger joints, I bet you can find in other areas!
Try this: take a few breaths, and let all the tension you are aware of go. Allow your breath to expand your body like a balloon from the inside. Do not “try”, allow it to happen. You can be sitting or standing. With micro(small, dime-sized) movements, begin to move your one shoulder at a time, with as little effort as possible. Imagine drawing circles, forward back, then away from and toward the body.
Feel the ease, and slipperiness (squirt with imaginary olive oil can) if it feels like a challenge. Rest, repeat and relax! Or imagine there is a tiny ball bearing in the center of the shoulder and it is oiled up. Create slightly faster, random directional movement. This is what I think of as oscillation!
I am learning about the physics of our body. Here is the definition to play with in your shoulder: regular variation in magnitude or position around a central point.
